"Touch the Ocean: The Power of Our Collective Emotions" We're here to serve you so you can serve others in these interesting times.
This published Poet and Healer works with trust, presence, good manners, integrative modalities, and with a poetic healing art called CranioSacral Therapy.
Thank you for the continuing gift of your attention and time in browsing the few pages of this modest trade website! A CranioSacral Therapist most often takes on those that Doctors and Hospitals have simply given up on, or don't know what to do with anymore. For example:
Meanwhile, please honor your Primary Doctor, also your Massage Therapist or good hearted Bodyworker! We each owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our good hearted Massage Therapists and intuitive Bodyworkers and Energy Workers as one of the greatest natural resources on the planet at this time. "Cranial" CranioSacral Therapy(CST), or Cranial, is a gentle hands on therapy which uses a very light touch and goes beyond the reach of traditional medicine. It uses NO AGENDA, and because of this, is more a "process fix" than a "quick fix" though quick fixes often happen. Nor is it to be mistaken for a "cure all." CST, depending on the resonance and compatibility with your practitioner, and on mutual willingness to give the process some time and allow a widening of perception, can take you on a Journey to the Cause. James compares this journey to the feeling of slipping into a pair of new shoes. It is said that our shoes represent the ideas that a man walks in. And in this work there is a quality of expansion that can occur. "At your Service" James blends keen intuition with clinical skill and can take no credit. He performs four sessions a day over four days each week.
Now in Florida, James alternates work in the ocean with work on arelaxing massage table or in a warm pool. The ocean itself is healing.
What Is the Time Worth? The Facilitator is not great with figuring out money at the end of most sessions, nor does he work with a receptionist or secretary. At the same time, he doesn't live on air. One might think in terms of the big picture: Dinner with candlelight and wine, or sessions to fully treat TMJ, and its cause, or PTSD, or a debilitating migraine, chronic lower back pain, or scoliosis, and one wonders why it's such a good bargain! Think about it for awhile. Everything that happens in a session is free (priceless) the charge is only for the time.
Okay. More About The Facilitator Although certified massage therapist with honors in human biology and certified as a Diplomat in Craniosacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute in South Florida. This remains a privilege for him. James never knew what the word, "Diplomat" meant. Do you? It's the second level of certification at the Upledger Institute, after "Techniques." Although he remains a beginner with each new session performed, for clarity, he will often say to others that 'Diplomat' means,"advanced." It's a common term in education and in medicine. James shys away from Institutes in general, gives informal lectures on craniosacral and demonstrates techniques for home use. He teaches his unique take on craniosacral therapy, “craniocean” to smaller groups around the country and by invitation, craniosacral therapy his point of departure and primary modality. He's very much a one-on-one kind of guy and will take time with each person who asks. He is known to work at these deeper levels of bodywork with simple, good manners. This includes good manners and respect for both the seen and the unseen worlds. A hands-on session with James is never an interrogation, never forced or pushed. To James, for anyone to use coercion, or force, certainly at these levels of being, is like trying to pull apart the petals of a flower before it can open. Force does Not work. There was once upon a time, long ago, when he met very special, refined bodywork people, who were like angels. Then he also met one or two others who were rude to clients and collegues. He was new to bodywork and this shocked him. After all, there is nothing to be gained but a power trip and a sense of personal power--this does not honor the living being on the treatment table. Of course, this was long ago. He appreciates having met the rude folks way back then, for he learned a great deal from them too, in fact, they were, perhaps, also a contributing factor in helping to inspire the books he's written now: What is it to work at the deeper levels of bodywork and to be considerate, harmless, kind? He remains grateful to those one or two who were unkind for it came to him as a shock. He had never been in a hospital or clinic situation before. Good manners were not demonstrated in forms of bodywork he had encountered, particularly in Institutional settings. (Present company excepted, of course!) He didn't see good manners demonstrated on television or even in politics. It seemed a National malaise. Then 9/11, then Iraq! No one seemed to have anything nice to say about anyone. Then he realized he himself didn't know what good manners were, or had forgotten the definition. He turned to a wise Old Man in Northern California, who said, "Good manners are based on respect and putting others at ease." (You heard the definition here folks! -- JN) Even More? With a Theater background, originally, James played a leading role in introducing CranioSacral Therapy to the Southern California area, was the first in Southern California to be Diplomat Certified, and CraniOcean is now referred by Doctors of both the conventional and alternative medical communities. Since 1998, he has offered the "CranioSacral Mini-Intensive", a creative format for personalized sessions. When he is invited to perform Mini-Intensives in other states and abroad, his travel and expenses are to be met by the Host. He has been in practice in Los Angeles for more than 12 years and his touch is sought out by medical doctors and also healers of both the Traditional and the Alternative communities. He is recently arrived in South Florida. With more than twenty five years of Spiritual quest and path work. Bachelor of Humanities, Certified Massage Therapist through the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in Santa Fe, Postgrad Honors Human Biology, Advanced Diplomate Certified CranioSacral Therapist through the Upledger Institute in South Florida, with continuing studies at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. James feels a gift of healing can evolve from training in Theater and feels that sincere Actors and Actresses can make wonderful Healing Artists. Find out! It could be that acting is a healing journey in itself. (Beyond this, who cares where it comes from, it's a gift :) This is an Open Secret His favorite poet is the 12th century poet, Rumi, as translated by Coleman Barks. Rumi has been the best selling poet in America for the past decade.
"Rumi is the best selling poet in America, and the most recited and listened to in the country of Afghanistan. He was born there. They love him." - Coleman Barks Visits to Los Angeles James worked as a intuitive bodyworker and massage therapist for three years without formal training before he sought formal studies in CranioSacral Therapy at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur. He has been resident "Poet of Bodywork"at the Dr. RA Galas office on Melrose Avenue since 1993, and returns there occasionally. Let him know for his next visit! Trust Yourself Just as there are people and places you like to hang around there are also Bodyworkers and Healing Artists you might be compatible with and like to hang around. Getting to know each other is a mutual process and totally part of it. Please use this website to discover others you may also be compatible with! This site is informational and for your use and enjoyment! Most seem to think James is the only person who knows what he's doing and who can actually do this. There are others in the field! And you, the living being that will be on the massage table, can be more in tune with who you need to work with and what is going on with your body than anyone else and should be honored as a privileged and invited guest by the best bodyworkers and massage therapists in the field. Anything less than respect for the living being is bad manners. Once upon a time James asked a kindly old man in a vineyard house in Northern California what good manners were? The old man paused, lit a cigarette, and said finally, "Good manners are based on respect and putting others at ease." Touch the Ocean
CraniOcean® is influenced by Upledger's CranioSacral Therapy, in turn inspired by the discoveries of Dr. William Sutherland, it emerges out of an illustrious line of historical discoveries in hands-on therapies. In 2002, on Dr. John E. Upledger's birthday, Upledger asked James to write a book about CranioSacral Therapy, but told James to make the work his own. James accepted Upledger's challenge, began to develop CraniOcean® and has completed a book length manuscript, TOUCH THE OCEAN. James's active memberships include the International Association of Health Care Practitioners (IAHP), International Massage Association (IMA), American CranioSacral Therapy Association (ACTA), Sons of the Amrican Revolution (AHEM)...on his Mother's side... earliest nickname? "Sunbeam." As your Therapeutic/Facilitator he may draw from and integrate:
